About

About Todd Bauerle

An author and storyteller whose books encourage readers to think deeply about faith, relationships, courage, and the questions that matter.

Todd Bauerle spent thirty-seven years helping families make hard decisions about money — and, inevitably, about everything money touches. His books bring that same plain, unhurried counsel to two of life’s largest questions: what we are willing to die for, and what we promise when we marry.

Background

Todd grew up in a small town in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. He earned a B.S. in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1982 and later completed his Certified Financial Planner™ certification through the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.

For nearly four decades he worked as a financial advisor and investment advisor, guiding hundreds of families through market crashes and, more importantly, through the life events that arrived with them — newborns and funerals, weddings and divorces, promotions and layoffs, richer and poorer. He and his wife ran their practice together, managing tens of millions of dollars through every downturn since 1984, until her health made that work impossible to continue.

His writing

Todd’s books are deliberately short. He favors plain language, honest objections, and chapters you can finish in one sitting. As a Certified Dream Coach® — trained through Marcia Wieder’s Dream University and shaped by study with Nancy Kline and Tim Kelly — he has spent years learning to take difficult subjects apart and put them back together in a way people can actually use. The goal of a chapter is not to win an argument but to leave the reader with a better question than the one they started with.

His books

The Fourteen Bravest Christians: Did They Die for a Lie? asks why fourteen men would willingly endure horrendous deaths for the same claim — and what their courage says about whether that claim was true.

Getting Married! Are You Crazy? is a candid, practical guide to marriage and commitment, drawing on the wisdom of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and C. S. Lewis and on questionnaires and exercises designed to surface the conversations couples tend to avoid.

His philosophy as an author

Todd writes for the person who is curious but busy, skeptical but open. He believes a good book respects the reader’s intelligence and their time, and that the hardest ideas are usually the ones most worth making simple. His own marriage — a Yankee and a Southern belle, a special-needs child, serious illness, and more than one season that could have ended it — is where much of that conviction was earned.

Speaking & events

Todd speaks to churches, small groups, men’s and couples’ gatherings, financial and estate-planning audiences, and book clubs on the themes of both books. To discuss an event or appearance, see the Events page or contact Todd directly.
